Kids Obstacle Challenge is special for many reasons, but what most people don’t get to hear about is the absolutely amazing group of people that make it happen in the field, weekend after weekend. From Portland, OR (where we are headquartered), we fly an amazing 6-member team to each market to join our road team, and together (along with local volunteer groups), they build the event from the ground up. From Wednesday-Friday, they unload our trailers, layout the course, assemble every obstacle, and set-up every tent, flag, sign, and stake you see on course and in our festival area. Doing this weekend after weekend takes grit and dedication to our mission, and at every event, our team brings energy and enthusiasm for all the kids and parents who run our courses. Weekend after weekend and across the country, our team members give their all with smiles on their faces. They embody teamwork, which is such a beautiful thing to witness.
Last weekend, Kids Obstacle Challenge Dallas/Fort Worth gave our team some challenges due to the storms that hit Texas and much of the Midwest. We apparently had luck on our side, as the storm missed us during the event, however afterwards, the sky opened up and the edge of the storm hit the venue. After the thunderstorm passed, our team got to work breaking down the event in the rain. They worked hard for several hours and into the dark. They got wet and dirty. They got it done. Our field staff embody the core principles of Kids Obstacle Challenge: hard work, overcoming challenges, and perseverance. These guys rock!
Austin, here we come!
